More Races Shift in Favor of the Democrats

The Cook Political Report, one of the top election handicappers, has shifted another 12 House races in favor of Democrats as all signs show a mounting Democratic wave with just four days to go until Election Day .
The Cook Political Report moved House races across Colorado, Florida, Indiana, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Wyoming in favor of Democrats. Erin Covey, the House editor for the Cook Political Report, said in a statement accompanying the ratings changes that “Democrats now have the potential to win their largest majority since 2009.”
“President Donald Trump’s approval rating is underwater even in deep red seats that he won comfortably in 2024, and heavy spending from Republicans doesn’t appear to be moving the needle,” Covey said.
Many of the races that saw them still favor Republicans. However, the shift reflects a broad softening in support for Republicans as the election draws near. Since Labor Day, Republicans have seen a precipitous decline in their chances. Collectively the Cook Political Report, Inside Election, Sabato’s Crystal Ball and Fox News have shifted 291 race ratings in favor of Democrats since Labor Day.
DCCC Communications Director Courtney Rice said that “these ratings changes reflect the urgency candidates are tapping into at this moment.”
“Democrats are leaving everything on the field in these final four days, and we’ll continue that fight through Election Day and beyond,” Rice said.
